Pasear por las montañas andinas, es una experiencia única, escuchar el río, ver las ovejas, cada flor, fruto, planta todo forma parte de mi inspiración.
Sin olvidar de las largas conversaciones con las productoras del páramo, donde hablamos de la historia del teñido con plantas, donde crece cada una y los colores que nos brindan, así como también cual es la lana perfecta para ser pintada.
Cada una de estas mujeres tiene su propio método en su oficio, trabajar con ellas ha sido de gran aprendizaje, cosa que siempre voy a guardar como un bello tesoro.
Así descubrí mi pasión en el oficio de trabajar a mano con lana de oveja, en mi páramo merideño, crear con ella piezas únicas y ser parte de este legado y contribuir con su preservación.
Para mi, trabajar con el fieltrado con aguja (needle felting) ha sido descubrir un mundo maravilloso donde conecto con la naturaleza de una forma muy particular, ya que, a través de mi habilidad, puedo moldear lana y con ella crear réplicas de fauna silvestre de mi país que se encuentra en peligro de extinción, con el detalle de cada especie y con el propósito enorme de dar a conocer a cada animal que se debe proteger.
Además, he tenido la oportunidad de contribuir con proyectos y fundaciones maravillosas que se dedican a la conservación de fauna, a través de lo que sé hacer, y esto me llena de satisfacción.
En todo mi proceso de creación uso elementos ecoamigables y prácticas sustentables, desde el primer momento en que esquilo a la oveja, a mano sin herramientas que la puedan lastimar, hasta el lavado y teñido de su lana, además la técnica con la que trabajo también la realizo a mano, convirtiendo a cada una de mis piezas en un objeto único que tiene un propósito genial.
Walking through the Andean mountains is a unique experience, listening to the river, seeing the sheep, every flower, fruit, plant, everything is part of my inspiration.
Without forgetting the long conversations with the producers of the páramo, where we talked about the history of dyeing with plants, where each one grows, and the colors they give us, as well as what is the perfect wool to be painted.
Each of these women has her own method in her job, working with them has been a great learning experience, something that I will always keep as a beautiful treasure.
This is how I discovered my passion in the trade of working with sheep's wool by hand, in my “páramo merideño”, creating unique pieces with it and being part of this legacy and contributing to its preservation.
For me, working with needle felting has been discovering a wonderful world where I connect with nature in a very particular way, since, through my skill, I can mold wool and with it create replicas of the wildlife of my country that is in danger of extinction, with the detail of each species and with the enormous purpose of making each animal known that must be protected.
In addition, I have had the opportunity to contribute to wonderful projects and foundations that are dedicated to the conservation of fauna, through what I know how to do, and this fills me with satisfaction.
Throughout my creation process, I use eco-friendly elements and sustainable practices, from the first moment I shear the sheep, by hand without tools that could hurt it, to the washing and dyeing of its wool, in addition to the technique with which I also work. I make it by hand, turning each of my pieces into a unique object that has a great purpose.
