Este mes la Asociación Mujeres y Conservación cumple su primer aniversario. Es difícil describir el sentimiento. No es un sentimiento de logro, ni de éxito, es más bien un sentimiento de maravilla y asombro sobre lo que hemos logrado, y sobre todo aprendido, al crear algo nuevo durante un año que fue tan difícil para todo el mundo.
La iniciativa nació de una necesidad de compartir el trabajo de mujeres conservacionistas en Latinoamérica. Redes de mujeres hay muchas, muy buenas, con enfoques diferentes. Pero lo que queríamos era visibilizar a nivel continental a la persona en sí, su historia, su experiencia en el mundo de la conservación ambiental, y así nace la Libreta de Campo. Que actualmente cuenta con 13 entradas en las que se narran las maravillosas historias y distintas experiencias de mujeres y una lista de interesadas en compartir durante este 2021.
La iniciativa también nace del interés por conocer el trabajo de mujeres y conservacionistas. Dónde se encuentran, dónde trabajan, cómo es posible contactarlas. Hoy tenemos el Directorio AMC, una herramienta filtrable por país y disciplina que esperamos ayude a encontrar a esa mujer con la que necesitas colaborar o de la cual te interesa aprender. Literalmente poniendo a las expertas y aprendices en el mapa para poder conectarnos y apoyarnos entre nosotras.
Parte de nuestra idea original era llevar a cabo capacitaciones de manera presencial. Claro está que desde nuestro comienzo en marzo 2020 esto no nos fue posible. Sin embargo, la pandemia nos obligó a mudarnos 100% al mundo virtual, lo que nos ayudó a llegar y conectar a mujeres en diferentes países. Hasta el día de hoy, nuestra página ha sido visitada por personas en más de 30 países, incluyendo Irlanda, Turquía y Japón.
A un año de haber sido creada, la AMC hoy se encuentra en una etapa de crecimiento. Con la integración de nuestras Colaboradoras AMC y nuestra Asistente de Operaciones, sólo nos queda mejorar y crecer.
La Asociación Mujeres y Conservación es una iniciativa voluntaria que busca empoderar, visibilizar y apoyar a las mujeres trabajando en conservación en Latinoamérica. Es un trabajo que realizamos desde el fondo de nuestros corazones llenos de ideas, sueños y metas que alcanzar. Nuestra lección más grande ha sido que la red realmente funciona, que el saber y entender por lo que está pasando la otra es clave para brindar el apoyo necesario, y para inspirar y creer en nosotras mismas en este sendero de aprendizaje.
Queremos dar el más grande y caluroso agradecimiento a las integrantes de la red AMC por creer en la iniciativa y ayudar a enriquecer y crecer esta poderosa comunidad.

This month Asociación Mujeres y Conservación celebrates its first anniversary. It is difficult to describe the feeling. It is not a feeling of achievement, nor of success, it is rather a feeling of wonder and amazement about what we have achieved, and above all learned, by creating something new during a year that was so difficult for everyone.
This initiative was born out of a need to share the work of women conservationists in Latin America. There are many very good women's networks with different focuses out there. But what we wanted was to highlight the person on a continental level, her story, her experience in the world of environmental conservation, and so the Field Notebook was born. Which currently has 13 entries in which the wonderful stories and different experiences of women are narrated, and a long list women interested in sharing during this 2021.
The initiative is also born out of an interest in learning about the work of women and conservationists. Where are they, where do they work, how can they be contacted? Today we have the AMC Directory, a filterable tool by country and discipline that we hope will help you find that woman with whom you need to collaborate or from whom you are interested in learning. Literally putting experts and apprentices on the map so that we can connect and support each other.
Part of our original idea was to conduct face-to-face training. Of course, since our beginning in March 2020 this was not possible. However, the pandemic forced us to move 100% to the virtual world, which helped us reach and connect women in different countries. As of today, our page has been visited by people in more than 30 countries, including Ireland, Turkey and Japan.
One year after being created, the AMC is currently in a growth stage. With the integration of our AMC Collaborators and our Operations Assistant, we can only go up from here.
Asociación Mujeres y Conservación is a voluntary initiative that seeks to empower, highlight and support women working in conservation in Latin America. It is a job that we do from the bottom of our hearts, full of ideas, dreams and goals yet to achieve. Our biggest lesson has been that the network actually works, that knowing and understanding what the other is going through is key to provide the necessary support, and to inspire and believe in ourselves on this path of learning.
We want to give the biggest and warmest thanks to the members of the AMC network for believing in the initiative and helping to enrich and grow this powerful community.
